The lighting scheme of this fitness centre has been designed in close collaboration with the interior designer to define the most appropriate atmosphere space by space. The light is thus soft and sophisticated, very warm in the restaurant and more motivating in the swimming pool and fitness rooms.
One of Europe’s leading theme parks introduced Luc Besson’s “Arthur et le Minimoys” to their park ride attraction. ACT together with Joravison won the bid to design and install the new attraction’s set, lighting, and AV installations. It was a close collaboration as all fixtures needed to be hidden and integrated into the wonderful imaginary world of Besson’s movie.
ACT has achieved the lighting scheme of the main greenhouse and restaurants of the 4th Center Parcs open in France. The lighting scheme is creating, at night, both a festive and natural outdoor feeling within the greenhouse and a warm and welcoming atmosphere in the restaurants.
For the 35th anniversary of Daikin Europe an impressive show was created and held two evenings in a row at the Casino of Oostende.
ACT Lighting Design had already been involved in the celebration of previous anniversaries of Daikin, and was asked for the fourth time in a row to create the lighting design for the show.
The key lighting feature in this shopping mall is the lampshade, used as an icon. It adapts to its location (suspended, wall-mounted or post-mounted) changes colour according to time and events and contains the required general lighting. Most other light sources are hidden into architecture and interior design to deliver a well balanced design lit environment enhancing volume and materials.
Our work on Dronten has started with the design of the city centre lighting masterplan, which has allowed us to provide a global concept with all lighting requirement integrated together. We have designed elegant elements replacing the usual cluster of equipment, such as pole and wall mounted objects, gathering commercial shopsigns, functional lighting and decorative / festive lighting.
ALICE Events and ACT won again the bid for last winter’s “Electrabel Nights” Christmas Spectacular. A combination of integrated LED strips into the existing Baroque architecture of Brussel’s City Hall and more traditional projection and lighting techniques, formed the basis of a 2 x 20 minute “Son & Lumière” for the world’s most beautiful market square. It was estimated that about 1,3 million people came to gaze at this show over a 1 month period.
ACT used traditional Christmas lighting decorations integrated all over the architecture of the world’s most beautiful market square. Brussel’s City Hall was enhanced by a lighting combination of LED lines, guirlandes and sparkle lights, which were draped all over the main building and tower.
Studio Arne Quinze called upon ACT Lighting Design for the creation of this exhibition, introducing to a broad audience the versatility and future of the textile industry.
The aim of the exhibition was to emphasize on the importance of scientific research and innovative applications in the textile industry.
The architecture of this project has been influenced by the near mountains; elements like the stone arc, the wooden pillars and ceiling, the external stone wall, the “lake”, have all been given their importance by the lighting.
All sources have been integrated in the architecture elements or made to measure fixtures for the shopping centre like the shop signs, the poles in the atriums, the lampshades, the lighting sculpture, the lighting benches…
For the second year in a row, ACT lighting design was called upon by producer Al Raisi Group to create the entire set, lighting, content and video design of the Lalayi Febrayer Music and Poetry festival in Kuwait, now at its 6th edition. For the anniversary of one of the world's leading suppliers of cement and aggregates, ACT conceived a stunning lighting performance before an audience of more than 4000 people. The technical aspect of the project, a scene on an artificial lake in an ancient quarry, required ACT to utilize its best lighting solutions. Light was playing with reflects of the water on, and all around the lake, producing a realistic ambiance at a distance of almost 1200m from the public.
For the opening ceremony of the Belgian presidency of the European Union, Alice Events created a spectacular show in Europe’s capital on the 3rd of July.
The European Parliament, the esplanade surrounding it and Place Luxembourg served as setting of the spectacle. The lighting design was created in two phases. First there was the mise en lumière of the buildings and scenery.

This 10 days outdoor event took place on the industrial site around the Jeumont train station to present this abandoned site into a new light. The site was transformed into a mini-theme park, gathering the main industrial buildings around a 31m high totem. People could walk along an illuminated walkway to a large warehouse, in which a life show was running every hour.
In 2006, The Koninklijke Bibliotheek in The Hague organized an exhibition named ‘Magazine!’ in their complex. The KB keeps an archive of about 110 kilometres of shelves with books, magazines and papers - basically everything that was ever written in Dutch or about The Netherlands. For the exhibition’s architectural design the KB decided to work with ‘Nexus Creative People’ under the guidance of creative director Stan Colders.
In this Parisian high-end fashion shop designed by Arne Quinze, we have mainly used LEDs creating in this way a strong contrast between a cold light enhancing the metallic set and a warm light in the alcoves where the clothes are exposed.
This futuristic set is thus strongly enhanced by the luminous atmosphere, showing in this way that LED technology is now mature enough to fulfill the highest design requirements.
The lighting scheme of this commercial centre is a convincing demonstration of the integration of video elements into architecture and of the use of the video signal in a large scale lighting animation. Other RGB lighting system enhance the lightness of the main glass facade and emphasize the movements in the building with color animated lines along escalators and lifts.

The façade lining the car-park of this large commercial centre is lit with a very sophisticated system, transforming it into a light show every night. This lighting scheme is achieved with automatic projectors, generally used in shows, such as color washes and gobo projectors.
A original creation at the “National Theatre Le Chaillot” in Paris, this is a contemporary theatre piece on a text by Marguerite Duras. The project « Locutorium » is the first stage of the refurbishment of the Abbey of the Park in Leuven and hosts the Museum that explains its history. For this project, we have selected a very sober and contemporary range of light fittings, both technical and decorative enhancing this heritage building while integrating discretely. Museum lighting is achieved with compact and well glare controlled projectors mounted on suspended tracks.
For the Shopping Centre “Mongolfiera” in Molfetta the focus of the lighting project was to combine a warm and cozy lighting with the atmosphere of the sea. Two albeit contradicting elements. The sources are integrated in the architectural elements or into made to measure structures in harmony with the style. Shop signs and the pole lampshades in the atria are examples of integrated lighting fixtures into new stylish elements.
The façade of this futuristic commercial centre is transformed into a large scale billboard, mixing backlit logos with colour changing LED animations. In the interior areas, we are providing a soft, cozy and relaxing atmosphere through perfect integration and appropriate lighting distribution for each particular space. This basis is then topped with surprising or appealing lighting effects, providing excitement, but balanced to fit in the overall picture of the building.

For the renovation of ‘The Flying Trunk’ at the Tivoli theme park in Copenhagen, ACT Lighting Design created and integrated a whole new lighting design.
For the last 45 years, ‘The Flying Trunk’ offered a journey through 32 of the most beloved tales by Hans Christian Anderson. The restoration of all figurines and setting was in the hands of Joravision.
At the recent Light & Building Fair in Frankfurt, the PLDA (Professional lighting designer's association) produced their bi-annual event for the lighting industry. More then 800 international guests were invited for the 3rd Celebration of Light at the Bockenheimer Depot in Frankfurt. The PLDA asked ACT to be the designer for this event. The theme of the evening was "The World of Film".
The illumination of this heritage Church is aimed at enhancing its complex structure with light to offer a subtle and improved legibility of this master piece of architecture at night. The illumination has to be strong enough to the higher parts and to the cupola to offer the required visibility to this main landmark of Brussels. Our lighting scheme tackles the facade lighting of a large commercial centre with cinema and supermarket. It consists of a mix of soft white grazing light on stone elements and dynamic colored lines in horizontal louvers. In the interior areas, the ambient lighting is realized through the use of linear coves and translucent backlit surfaces. General lighting is achieved with low glare recessed downlights, arranged in a random way.
In 2009, for the third time in a row, SBS Belgium turns to ACT Lighting Design for the complete light, video and production design of their autumn media conference.

STAM, Ghent’s city museum is located on the Bijloke site, in a listed Convent that was entirely renovated in the context of this project. The challenge for the lighting designers was to enhance the architecture of the building through adapted lighting whilst taking into account the requirements and limitations of museum-specific lighting.
This ground floor building is topped with a long “glass block” covered with a curved roof. This long glass façade is backlit with automatic lighting equipment transforming it into a perfect support to project light animations, running alongside the whole length of the street or simulating a long rainbow.

The lighting scheme of the Ypenburg city centre combines colour changing festive lighting, amenity lighting and functional lighting, within a unique and coherent system. The design concept is based on 3 perception scales: the skyline, the street and the building entrances. These 3 scales are linked with the colour of the light, changing according to time and season.
